Analog Forestry

Is a system of sylviculture that allows us to live and design for sustainability in proximal living of ‘forest systems’ as we strive to support a growing population. The system studies closely at what might have been the ‘primary state’ (historical) of present anthropogenic (human managed) landscapes and replicate those old growth structures using simple tools and creativity. AF uses databases for species referrals and hones skilled design application to restore given landscapes in a manner befitting the environment and native biodiversity.

Analog forestry is considered a vital knowledge towards human survival as we prepare to mitigate inevitable climate extremes.

Using Analog Forestry and digital mapping technologies the ER system assists landowners adapt to climate resilience in human managed landscapes. By doing this we increase primary productivity and habitat for biodiversity greatly improving the quality of living for life on planet Earth.

AF is taught as a learning module in Sri Lanka and Costa-Rica and practiced
in over 20 countries worldwide.

Photosynthetic
Biomass (PB)

Investors see the act of primary productivity: Photosynthesis, as an exchange that takes place on the surface of “leafy matter” termed PB, the leaves on trees.

ER database

Investors see the act of primary productivity: Photosynthesis, as an exchange that can be facilitated by manner of nurturing a given plant species*. All species accepted in to the system have to undergo scientific scrutiny in a simple manner of demonstrating growth curves in relation to species.

All DATA gathered is a manual process and requires skill and temperament for EarthCare.

ER seeks to collaborate on research and corresponding data collection protocol for the growth and statistical significance of this growth relative to production and performance  of Photosynthetic Biomass (PB) of given plant species. This data will be analysed used for verifying contractually produced Primary Ecosystem Services (PES), and subsequent derivative values for these elements.

Adding to the ER database is facilitated for students at Belipola Arboretum and Analog Forest* in Mirahawatte, Sri Lanka.
